ABOUT EAST LONDON ELEVATORS

Family-Run Lift Engineers · 25+ Years · London & Essex

East London Elevators is a London-based lift engineering specialist focused on keeping buildings running properly — not just ticking maintenance boxes. We work with property managers, asset managers, and building owners across London and Essex who expect a higher standard of service. People who need things handled properly, without chasing, and without the same issues coming back again.

WHY EAST LONDON ELEVATORS WAS CREATED

East London Elevators was built out of frustration with how the industry typically operates. Too many lift companies follow the same model: minimum input, repeat call-outs, and little accountability for long-term performance. Maintenance becomes a routine visit rather than a meaningful service, and the same faults keep coming back.

After years of seeing this first-hand, we set out to do things differently. The aim was simple:

Maintain lifts properly so they run reliably
Fix issues at the root — not just manage symptoms
Give clients clear, honest advice — even when it is not the most profitable option for us
Build long-term relationships based on trust, consistency, and accountability

That approach still defines how we operate today.

One Thing Worth Saying Plainly

One of the things we saw repeatedly, working inside the industry, was how maintenance contracts were priced. A low annual fee looks attractive — until the repair invoices arrive, charged at rates that more than recover the difference. It's a well-understood commercial model that much of the industry runs on. Low contract, high repairs. The contract is the foot in the door; the repairs are where the margin is made.

We set ELE up differently. Our contract pricing reflects the actual cost of maintaining your lift. Our repair and callout rates are the same ones we quote before we start — not adjusted upwards because a low contract fee made them look affordable on paper. If a repair isn't necessary, we'll say so. If it is, we'll explain why in plain English before we do anything.

That's not a marketing position. It's just how we think lift engineering should work.

HOW WE WORK

We are a small, hands-on team by design. You won't be passed through layers of admin or call centres. You deal directly with people who understand lifts, the building, and the consequences of getting it wrong.

We focus on doing the job properly and taking responsibility for the outcome. That means maintaining lifts based on their condition, not just following a checklist. It means identifying and resolving root causes rather than attending the same breakdown repeatedly. It means giving clear advice so clients understand what is happening and what needs to be done.

If something is not worth repairing, we will say so. If there is a better long-term solution, we will explain it clearly. We are accountable for the lifts we look after, and we stand behind the work we carry out.

WHERE WE SIT IN THE MARKET

We are not the cheapest, and we are not trying to be. Our clients are typically:

Tired of poor maintenance and repeat breakdowns from their current provider
Managing older or problematic lifts that need a structured plan, not a sticking plaster
Looking for long-term reliability over short-term cost savings
Responsible for buildings where lift downtime is not acceptable
Looking for a contractor they can trust and rely on for the long term

THE TYPE OF WORK WE TAKE ON

A large part of our work involves taking over lifts that are already underperforming. These are typically sites where breakdowns are frequent, faults keep returning, and there is little confidence in the existing service.

We specialise in stabilising these lifts, resolving underlying issues, and putting a structured plan in place to improve long-term reliability. With over 25 years in the industry, our background is heavily rooted in fault-finding, repair, and problem lifts — the kind most companies either avoid or cover up with temporary fixes.

That experience shapes how we approach everything, from routine maintenance contracts through to full modernisations and new installations.

HOW WE WORK WITH CLIENTS

We build genuine working relationships with our clients. We take the time to understand not only the building and its technical requirements, but also the people responsible for it — how they work, what pressures they are under, and what matters to them.

In many cases, we are stepping in after trust has been lost with a previous provider. Rebuilding that trust — through consistency, honesty, and actually delivering what is promised — is a key part of what we do.

Every building is different. We take the time to understand its history, current condition, and risks, then build a plan around it. No overcomplication. No sales spin. Just competent engineering, clear communication, and a service you can rely on.
